A white kid who never made it past in ninth grade was able to propel himself to the top of a predominantly Africa, America art form. Yes, you are right. I am talking about the rap god himself Eminem. His real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III but all of us probably know him as Eminem. He is the biggest selling artist of the past decade earning 13 Grammy, one Oscar and Mountains of criticism for lyrics that are as profane as they are poetic. Whether you are a fan of rap or not Eminem’s life story is an extraordinary tale of success against all odds a story.

Eminem was born on October 17, 1972 in Saint Joseph, Missouri, USA. At that time his mother was just seventeen. When Eminem was 1 year 2 months, His father left him and his mother. His mother didn’t have any job. She started searching for jobs. She worked where she got. Due to a lack of permanent jobs; they migrated from one place to another. Due to this, migrated from one place to another this, Eminem changed his school more than two times in a year and didn’t have any good friends.

Everybody bullied him in school as he neither had any friends nor permanent residence. But in the 8th grade, a student name De Angelo Bailey bullied him. She split his lip and knocked the wind out of him and from there, the beating became worse and worse. A couple of months later, Bailey rolled up a snowball which contained a heavy object or a piece of ice and hurled it in Eminem’s direction, breaking his nose before subsequently beating him up However the worst incident came when Eminem was at his most vulnerable. His back was turned, he was urinating and thought he had escaped from the bad world, albeit, for a minute or two. Bailey came in and beat your Mathers to within an inch of his life, leaving him with sustained injuries to his head, face back and legs. His mother sued the Detroit School System for failing to protect him(Eminem). Who had suffered a concussion and temporary loss of vision in one eye but her lawsuit for 10000 dollars in damage was eventually dismissed on the ground of governmental immunity. He failed three times in ninth grade. Due to different problems and bullying behavior of his classmate, he left the school but that moment never left him and he noted the whole ordeal in a song called “Brain Damage”.

After leaving school they settled in a place named Detroit Michigan US. where black bone people used to live. In this place, the black people apartheid against the white people. At the age of 14, he first listened to rap from a CD given by his Uncle. His uncle had great influence in his life. He was like an idol for young Eminem. But the tragic thing is his uncle died because he killed himself. The death of his idol was very depressing for him and since then he started taking drugs.

How rap was established?

Rap was started in 1970 AD from America. Racism is one of the main reason for establishing hip Hip. Afro-American and Latin American community started the hip hop for the first time. Rap is an element of hip-hop. At that time the black race didn’t have any right to speak against the white one. So, in the order to express them they resorted the rap in the form of art.

Now lets go back to the story. Rap was more popular in people of black race. It was like a part of their culture and arts. But a white guy in this job was really different and kind of unacceptable by which Eminem had to face some hurdles. Eminem broke the stereotype anyways. But in the beginning things were not so smooth.Eminem released his first album called “Infinite” but it was a flop. He went through financial crisis. He had only $40 . Due to the stress he started taking more drugs more than before. He attempted suicide but he got saved. By the grace of god, after some time he got an opportunity to really show his talent in a rap competition. He got second position in that competition. He was highly appreciated. He started getting fame and the whispers went to the ears of Dr. Dre. Dr Dre was a successful and an amazing music producer. He offered Eminem to produce a album. Eminem was more than happy to do the album. The album was completed and released in 1999 AD. The name of that legendary album was “SLIM SHADY”. Yes, Slim Shady that Blockbuster album.

And then rest is history which we all know about. He achieved ever growing heights of success. He gained millions of fans all over the world. He broke records and won awards. He was offered an movie which showcases his own inspirational life story with ups and downs. The movie was made with the name 8 miles. It was released on 8th Nov 2002. Many people loved it and it was nominated for Oscars and Eminem won one for himself too. He also has written two books. He used 1560 words in a song called “Rap God”  which is absolutely mind blowing and record breaking. And so, he is known as RAP GOD.
