Let's be honest, studying is one of the hardest work to do for the most of students. We can spend a lot of time by surfing social media and time passes quickly but in case of study we get bored easily, we can't focus and as output of that we get less marks. And then later we regret about not being able to control our willpower. We try to study but we can't and we feel guilty for that. This loop is really very depressing for students. But here is an another approach, We can't concentrate because we don't know the right method. School teach us what to study but they never teach us how to do it. Here are some tips for you. Hope you'll find them very useful.
1) Active Recall
While we study we just read the text and think that it has been "studied". But the truth is reading only doesn't help up to memorize. It is kinda obvious but we have to understand that we need to actively recall what we have studied and the most important part is writing what we have read on paper and doing that we will easily find the gaps where we are unknown to. And then you have to read again and rewrite. This will fill the understanding gap. This will reduce dunning kurger effect too.
2) Frequency is very important
Our brain is not made in a way that we will remember anything in the first insight. We don't remember in the form of image. We remember in the form of neural network. To form that we have to interact with knowledge frequently. Like we don't remember the name of a person we have met once just like that we should not expect to remember everything just one day before.
So, Studying less more frequently is better than studying more less frequently.
3) Understanding is the key
If you really don't know what you are reading or trying to memorize than don't read it. You should know about what is the real use of that knowledge and where its applicable. You should actively try to relate with the knowledge and question yourself more than whats in the course. Try to see the bright side and never take it as burden. If you are taking studying as burden rather than a fun thing then you'll not succeed that's just the bitter truth!
4) Feyman Technique
Its kind of extension of the first tip. So basically you have to try to explain certain topic to someone or assume that you are explaining to a 8 year. This will help simplifying the knowledge and break down for your brain too.
5) Be a story teller
This is a fun and popular technique. If you are trying to remember points then you should definitely try this. In this technique you combine different word and points the form of story. The story can be of any kind and it weirder the story is the easier for you to remember. There are a lot of articles about this technique. If you want to learn more just email us and we'll also go deep to share the tips.
6) Practice (You know this right?)
All above techniques were for theory subjects. For subjects like Maths the one and only way of getting good marks is practicing. Make maths game and try to level up taking harder challenges. Also if you are at school level you should understand the problems relating with real world.
So, these were some of the tips for studying efficiently. We will go deeper in upcoming blogs about more techniques and tips. For that subscribe out blog and do share with friends if you found this helpful.
